Omega Boost, Horse Condition Recovery and Ration Balance - ESC Laboratory
Description
Omega fatty acids come from lipids and are essential fatty acids: they are vital for the body's functions, as the body cannot produce them. Therefore, they must be obtained through diet.
Omega fatty acids are involved in numerous physiological reactions, including:
Omega-3
Their list of benefits is impressive, encompassing everything from the cardiovascular system and brain to bones and liver. Omega-3 fatty acids have an anti-inflammatory effect. They combat the symptoms of anxiety and are essential for brain development. They help prevent asthma, reduce liver fat, and strengthen bones. Finally, they provide the body with energy.
Omega-6
They also play a role in bone health and brain function. They promote hair and nail growth, improve skin, participate in regulating metabolism, and reduce allergic reactions and arthritic symptoms.
The omega-3/omega-6 balance in a horse's diet is important because omega-3s are primarily converted into anti-inflammatory molecules while omega-6s are converted into pro-inflammatory compounds.
The optimal omega-3 / omega-6 ratio for horses is currently estimated to be between 1:4 and 1:6 of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids.
